Game related swag
Arrived home from a fun week in Massachusetts to another item for my collection, so I decided now was a good time to be a big show-off and post some of my favorite video game swag. Sorry if the pics aren't great, it's night time here so I'm just using the flash on my camera.

Ar Tonelico 2 towel
NIS America held this 'Girls Gone Towel' contest on various gaming sites to hype up the release of Ar Tonelico 2. The prize is a bath towel with printed artwork of Cloche and Luca... in bath towels! I read Siliconera a lot, which was one of the sites offering the contest, so I said 'why not' and entered, and to my surprise I ended up being one of the 100 random winners. Read on for more pics of the towel, and some of my past swag.
Ar Tonelico 2 towel
I was pretty shocked after opening it up, even though I knew what to expect, haha. It's huge, like beach towel sized. Really tempted to chill on it at the beach one day, just to see the weird stares I'd get, haha.

Ar Tonelico 2 towel
I think it's cute how they're holding hands. :D The towel is made out of the usual 100% cotton. The printed side has a nice soft feeling, while the back is textured like a regular bath towel.

Ar Tonelico 2 letter
And here's the letter enclosed with the towel. Nice of em to have a sense of humor about it, bwahaha. They even had a second contest where the prize was a body pillow case. Now onto some of my past goodies.

Plushies
I always love a cute plush doll. The Harvest Moon series has gotten several plush animals as pre-order bonuses. I only have the cat and sheep though. The little Phoenix Wright was from pre-ordering the third game in the series. Super cute, wish they made more of them. The Kuma plush came from Persona 4's social link expansion pack. It's very similar to the one from Japan's Konamistyle set, which is neat. Got the Pikachu puppet at the Pokemon: Journey Across America event in New York, and bought the Link plush at an anime convention.

Phantasy Star Universe Inflatable PM
This little guy is a Phantasy Star Universe item. Inflatable partner machines were given away in various contests. Sadly I didn't win any of then. I ended up buying this on eBay, haha. Someone was selling a handful for $20 each so I went for it. Pretty cute, and has an elastic cord on top so you can hang it in your room.

Castlevania Portrait of Ruin preorder set
Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin got a pretty awesome preorder set, especially for a DS game. Seriously, all this stuff at no extra cost! Makes me wish they had gone all out for Order of Ecclesia... You got a DS game card holder, an extendable stylus, a music CD, a series time-line+poster, and a mini artbook with some words from Koji Igarashi, Ayami Kojima, and Michiru Yamane. The box that everything came in has a really cool closure too. It's just some plastic and velcro, but it's molded to look like a wax seal.

Pangya Portable Limited Edition
Here's the most recent limited edition set I've gotten, Pangya Portable. It's also the first time I've gotten a Korean game. Big thumbs up to Rich and friends at SLGaming for helping me buy this one. Comes with the game sporting alternate cover art featuring Arin, a two disc soundtrack (love the full versions of starlight!), a papel shaped PSP pouch, a figure of Kooh and Dolfini, and some bonus goodies for early pre-orders: a black papel strap and a PSP decal. Will get around to doing a full review of all this stuff when I get a PSP... XD Had to go ahead and buy the game early cuz I'm such a Pangya addict.

Etrian Odyssey prizes
And here's what I consider the holy grail of all my gaming swag... my prizes from the Atlus and Destructoid 'Tales of Etrian Odyssey' contest. I haven't blabbed about Etrian Odyssey here because I was really into it before I started this blog... But yeah, I'm still a huge fan, so who knows what I may post in the future! Anyways, it's hard to see the autographed stuff, but the two disc soundtrack was signed by Yuzo Koshiro, which made me estatic. He's my favorite video game music composer. <3 He signed it like three times, lol. The third signature is on the inside. The extra cover insert is signed by Shigeo Komori, the director for Etrian Odyssey II. The other prizes were the game itself, a figure of the blond female protector by Wave, the arranged soundtrack, and the piano arrange soundtrack that was a pre-order bonus in Japan.

Etrian Odyssey contest letter
Atlus also included a very funny letter. The contest involved talking about your favorite experience from the first game. I decided to up the ante by posting profiles of my party and illustrating my story. It was about the dreaded Golem fight, and its misleading quest. I'm not linking to it though, haha. I was rushing to finish it so my drawings were really sloppy, and I'm still kinda embarrassed. I really didn't expect to win... If you're curious enough you can search for it I guess. Shouldn't be too hard. =P

Aaand that's enough for one night. That stuff is just the tip of the iceberg... I've got way too many silly pre-order goodies and limited stuff. Of course, buying games without bonuses is fine with me too, but it's always fun to get more stuff, especially if it's from a game I like. Got any favorite game merchandise or bonus goodies?

Till next time!

Etrian Odyssey is one of my favorite games, so I totally recommend it. XD It's an acquired taste though, since it's pretty hard, and more like old style RPG games which were light on story and heavy on exploring, grinding, and finding loot. You even have to draw your own map on the bottom screen, which emulates the whole experience of drawing graph paper maps for stuff like Wizardry back in the day. This video shows off what the game is all about well, so I can ramble less, bwaha.

Anyways, you can even jump ahead to the sequel, since playing the first game isn't required, and the sequel improves so much and gives all the classes and skills a much needed rebalancing. The first game can get downright brutal if you don't have the right skills or classes for the later boss fights, while the second game is balanced much better, which is good for people who get creative with their parties.
