This post is gonna be a long one... That's what I get for not posting about these things as they happen, haha. Anyways, lemme just get started and talk about some of the stuff that's happened on Phantasy Star Universe since my last post about it.
![]() The Mission Carnival has come and gone. For real this time, bwaha. It was a great time to get back into the game, because EXP and items were plentiful. I was level 93 when the event started, and ended up at level 106 by the end. Not bad at all, for me at least, cuz I didn't play as much as I could have. Didn't wanna burn myself out. ![]() ![]() The Valentine's lobbies were up during the Carnival, so that meant Rappy Amure were lurking about with their rare goodies. One of my friends got a Madam Brella. Not bad considering we weren't even trying to hunt for it this year. I still don't have one though. :V Maybe next time. ![]() ![]() Speaking of rares... rare missions appeared way more often during the Carnival. Were we just incredibly lucky or was the rate boosted? Regardless of the reason, it was awesome to run so many rare missions. Delicious 500% boosted EXP and drops. I got a Shigga Desta during a run, which was awesome since I needed more S rank guns before I changed my job to Gunmaster. So, what to do after the Carnival? Easy, the Phantasy Star Portable launch event was right after it, since the game was recently released in America. There's also a free demo on the PSN store, so you can try before you buy. Shameless advertising goes here. ![]() Phantasy Star Portable at Play-Asia.com I'll definitely post about it when I get a PSP. It's basically Phantasy Star Universe scaled down and optimized for offline and local play, so levels zoom by faster and cool weapons are easier to come by. There's a ton of new items, and a new story mode with some new characters, namely the stars of this event, Vivienne and Helga. ![]() ![]() Okay so I never really liked these 'run around the lobbies hoping to see a GM pretending to be so-and-so' events, because even with the embarrassingly small population, people will spam like crazy and crowd around the GMs making it hard to see them, and everyone's character models take ages to load. But still, I went for it, and actually had a bit of fun. For some reason Vivienne and Helga's back and forth dialogue just made me smile. The players also added even more humor to the event (when they weren't spamming!) as they played along with Vivienne and Helga's antics. It was cheesy and cute. I decided to pull what I saw of Vivienne and Helga's dialogue from the day's log to show my friends, so here it is. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Vivienne would appear at the Guardian's Colony, asking players to help her locate Helga. Thus a wild goose chase across the three planets ensued. Once Helga was successfully located, Vivienne would show up and lay down the law, and Helga would curse us and leave for her next target. After she was found on all the planets, we'd get a special phrase to shout which will grant us some in-game prizes in the future. I'll show them off as soon as they're delivered. For those of you who made it this far... if you're wondering why I said 'for real this time' at the beginning, well that's because the first time the Mission Carnival ended, it wasn't really over. Somebody at Sega goofed on properly ending the event, and players were still able to glitch past the closed doors and continue playing. One of the GMs even posted an announcement with instructions on how to get past the doors, so we could get more playtime in before an emergency maintenance closed the event for real. Can't say I'm mad about the slip up, cause the extra playtime was sweet. ;D Welp, that's all I've got for now. See ya later. |
