 Way back on April 20th I documented the Secret Key download for Pokemon Platinum. Since then I had been patiently awaiting the next Wi-Fi Mystery Gift event. I was starting to get worried there, haha. If you have Pokemon Platinum and a wireless access point, then download this key item before you miss out. The download period started today and ends on September 13th. This event has already passed for Japanese players, but those with European and Australian versions of the game can download the Member Card too! It's surprising to see this, since in the past pretty much every other region had separate distribution dates, which is why I only report the US dates. So yeah, basically anyone with a non-Japanese version of the game can get the card for this run. Pics of the card and how to use it after the jump.  Reverse Side Of course the little Darkrai sprite in the corner should tell ya that this item relates to Darkrai. Sadly I can't go into crazy detail like with my Secret Key post... because I'm not far enough in the game to actually use the Member Card! Even if you also aren't far enough, I'd recommend downloading the card anyways before you forget, because it'll just sit in your inventory waiting for you to use it eventually.  Anyways, this event requires a bit more effort than the Rotom form changing one. First you'll need the Sinnoh Dex completed, which requires beating the Elite 4 and seeing every Pokemon from the Sinnoh region. Remember, just seeing them, not capturing them! After that, you can obtain the National Dex from Professor Rowan. Go to Canalave City, where you'll notice that Sailor Eldritch's son is sick. He'll ask you to go to Fullmoon Island to find a cure for his son. Go there through the ferry and pick up the Lunar Wing and bring it back to Eldritch's house. Cresselia will be roaming the routes of Sinnoh now too, but don't worry about that for now. Head to the Harbor Inn at Canalave City, and now the Member Card will be usable to open the door, where you'll see an event and be able to fight and capture a level 50 Darkrai!  As for me, I've only just reached Canalave City for the first time in Pokemon Platinum, so I've still got some ways to go before I get all the badges and can challenge the Elite 4. The rival always catches me off guard, I just barely beat him as usual. Also thinking logically, if he already beat the gym, and I just beat his team... I wouldn't need to train anymore, now would I?! But of course I'm going to Iron Island anyways, because that's where Riley is~  But before that, decided to check out the Canalave Library. If there's one thing I won't forget about my Diamond game, it was all those creation myths about the Sinnoh region. It's just unexpected to see this kind of stuff in a Pokemon game, ya know? Not that it's a bad thing.  Hey look, it's Masuda! I just love these random cameos, haha. Anyone remember this room in the Cerulean Mansion? Anyways, he's in one of the buildings at Hotel Grand Lake, only now in Platinum he has a unique sprite. I went back to my Diamond game to talk to him and got...  This adorable certificate for completing the Sinnoh Dex. I wonder if the one in Platinum will look diffferent? I'll have to keep on trucking to find out for myself I suppose. He'll also leave you with some words to think about.   Each Pokemon game holds its own unique memories for me, whether it's the in-game events, or fun battles and trades with my friends, or any other associated memories. Guess I'm just a sentimental bastard, even in my video games, eh? Laters! |
