 Way to throw me for a loop, Nintendo. They've been hinting at the Arceus giveaway for awhile, but then they suddenly announced the Oak's Letter giveaway. XD It makes sense though, since Shaymin does come before Arceus. I always wondered how they were gonna deal with that, haha. Anyways, much like the previous Member's Card giveaway, anyone with a non-Japanese version of Pokemon Platinum can hop onto Wi-Fi Mystery Gift and grab this key item starting today, up until November 8th. Instructions on how to use it and ramblings on my Platinum progress under the jump.  Reverse side Much like before... I'm not far enough in the game to actually use this item. =P You need to obtain the National Dex, which Professor Rowan will give you after beating the Elite 4 and seeing all of the Pokemon in the Sinnoh region. I had to use my Pokemon Diamond game to get the following pictures, lol. Ganked the adorable Shaymin picture up above from the official site.  After you have the National Dex, you'll notice a new path has appeared in Victory Road. It's easy to find this path if you enter from the back instead of the front. Also, if it's your first time going through here, you'll be able to do a little side quest with Marley.  After exiting the cave, you'll find yourself on route 224. Just keep walking until the end and you'll find this white rock. If you have Oak's Letter, Professor Oak will be here waiting for you. The Shaymin encounter is at level 30, so make sure you don't knock it out in one hit.  Progress time! Was bored and leafing through the diary thing that the game keeps. I forgot all about the trainer named Ana at Wayward Cave. XD From here on out it's all spoilers, since I just finished all the main story stuff. Yay me.  Hmmm... this giant hall wasn't here before! More new stuff for Platinum.  Cyrus being crazy as usual. As if he wasn't bad enough in Diamond and Pearl, lol.  And in case anyone doesn't believe that he's 27, here you go. He looks way older than that. :| Remember kids, being evil makes you age faster.  Lots of battles in here. First there were all those grunts to deal with while exploring the building, then Cyrus, then Saturn. I was surprised when Charon didn't challenge me too. He sure doesn't get a lot of screen time for a new character.  Vibrava finally evolved into Flygon. BOUT TIME! Its stats were so bad before, it was kind of a pain... XD Now it's finally up to par with the rest of the team.  Climbed up to the top of Mt Coronet to finish off the main storyline. The rival character shows up to help, but his AI is so bad... it's like he wasn't there at all. >_>  Aw snap it's Giratina! I was actually surprised when it jumped at the screen. XD  Aaaaaahh! I totally forgot about the Distortion World. Cynthia will help you explore it for a bit. It's all new for Platinum and really cool. Lasted longer than I expected too. Still, it's a shame that it's only used once.  Watching Cyrus walk around in the background amused me. When you make it over to that ledge he just VANISHES. That was really weird.  No matter, as you find him again for another battle. After he loses he just decides to stay in the Distortion World. That's like... really messed up. I can just imagine him slowly starving to death here. 8V  After that, it's time to battle Giratina. The big sprite floating out there was pretty neat! It also gets unique battle music this time around. It's... uh, different. Masuda wrote a bit about composing the piece over here, if you're interested in that sort of stuff.  The capture was a total pain. If it didn't wipe out my team first, it'd die of poisoning or something, lol. I'm really gonna hate catching the lake trio all over again...  Woah, calm down Professor Rowan. You might give yourself a heart attack. :| Also I laughed when after all that, he noted that I still haven't beaten the Sunyshore gym yet. Was I supposed to do that first? Whoops. Oh well, laters! |
