 Halloween has hit Pangya! I'm actually quite pleased with this update. Didn't expect them to kick things off so soon! There's lots going on, like a new Gacha rare, free comets, new clothes, and a little box collecting event. The game even has a fresh coat of paint for the occasion. But before all the update details, I'd like to post SeeD's memorial page. You can leave a message to SeeD, or read the messages from other Pangya players around the world. I also found these tribute videos on YouTube quite touching, so I will share them. Ekoro8be, well known among Pangya players for their mod videos, posted this video. Simukaredeye posted up this one, which has a collection of fan art drawn by Pangya TH players.
Everything in this update is available for a limited time only. The Halloween festivities end on November 5th, so make sure you've gotten and done everything you want by then. There's still time to enter the Halloween Masquerade and Halloween Self Design contests too, so check those out if you're interested. Now then, let's check out the Halloween event!
 The Trick or Treat event has started. Four different Candy Boxes will randomly pop out from the hole during VS games and tournaments. The Candy Box you get depends on the course you're playing at. And don't forget, if you're wearing a motion item, you'll get two boxes at once!  After you have collected one of each Candy Box, head to Cadie's Cauldron, where you can combine them to create the Halloween Gift Box. The box will contain one random item from the selection pictured above. You can repeat this as many times as you want, as long as you have enough Candy Boxes. I can't comment on the drop rate, since I only had time for one tournament today, but I did receive one Grape Candy Box during it. I heard complaints from players wearing luck rings who still hadn't gotten a single box though. =P  Next up is the brand new Gacha rare, the Soul Reaper club set. They have a unique Pangya logo and pretty good stats. A 25+5 pack of Gacha coins is also on sale until the 21st of October, so those wanting to win a set of Soul Reapers should stock up on coins while they have the chance.  There's also a new comet called the Smiling Goblin, available for a limited time. But what's the point when it's overpriced for a pack of 50 comets?  The Pumpkin Comet is much cooler, and you get 10 for free every day you log into the game!  Now onto the limited Halloween clothes. Not really impressed since they are reskins (see, PSU ain't the only game with reskins, lol) and past Halloween events had way more outfits to choose from. Ah well, you win some, you lose some. Nuri gets the Shadow Priest set.  Skeleton set for Max.  Foxy Devil set for Kooh.  Shining Black set for Lucia.  On top of all the new stuff, various graphics of the game's interface have been changed to suit the occasion. Here's a look at the launcher.  The server select screen.  The lobby, and even the logo in the corner of screenshots!  If your clubs don't have a special graphic, you'll see this when you get a 'Pangya' shot. I usually use my Sweet Love club set though, so I won't be seeing this much.  Well, that's all. Scary face Kaz wishes you Happy Holidays. Laters! But before I vanish, I saw a bit of misinformation regarding SeeD's involvement in... Phantasy Star Online!? Here's the thing, he wasn't involved at all. I saw a few messages from people who seem to think so, and I don't understand how it started at all. Akikazu Mizuno was the character illustrator for the Phantasy Star Online series. He became the character designer for the Phantasy Star games following it (those being Universe, Portable, and Zero). He is clearly listed in the game's credits and art books. But this isn't about him, it's about SeeD. Perhaps the confusion was caused by the fact that SeeD has a piece of Phantasy Star Online fanart in his website gallery (under personal 2000-2001). As a fan of both series and illustrators, I don't like seeing such misinformation being spread, especially after SeeD's death. So please, remember SeeD for the works he actually created. Don't confuse someone else's works for his. Thanks for understanding. |

Recolors are lame.
Kooh's is probably the only one where any thought/detail may have been put into it. The rest have the exact same patterns that they just colored over black 
The money they're charging is insane from what I heard. I bet Japan will get this next week. I'm interested in the clubset though. Hopefully I can get it with my gacha coupons I've saved up. Japan had the box event last year as well, I remember getting the mascot - it was cute ^^ Yeah, they don't even have them available as full sets. Gotta buy each piece separate. Not worth it at all. =_=

I know, I can't even think about it without being reduced into a sniveling mess. I'm usually not this sensitive over someone who I didn't know, but I suppose it speaks for how much I loved his work... I feel bad because I do not know Pangya or SeeD's work, but I do understand what it could be like to lose someone of great artistic ability that one has admired so fondly. I wish his family and his fans well.

Reskins are bland in every game expect PSO. Didn't you know that? *stabbed* Ahh, badgers. My sister and I broke out into that one while walking through the park last weekend. o_O; Pffft the ending of that Giraffe one. XD That Gummy Bear thing... wtf... *eyes bleed* Also oohh cool Lenore. I've only seen the comics, didn't know there were little flash shorts. :O |
